Some Rest Doesn’t Look Restful

Not all rest looks the way it’s supposed to.

Sometimes it’s quiet but not refreshing.

Sometimes it’s stillness paired with a busy mind.

Sometimes it’s stopping without feeling restored afterward.

It can be frustrating to rest and not feel better — like you did it wrong or didn’t do it long enough.

But rest isn’t always about feeling renewed.

Sometimes it’s just about not pushing.

Choosing to pause, even when it doesn’t lead to energy or clarity, is still a form of care. It creates a small boundary between you and exhaustion — even if the effects aren’t immediate.

You don’t have to feel calm or grateful for rest to count.

You don’t have to emerge refreshed.

Some rest simply holds the line.

And on certain days, that’s enough.
